A boy and his stick

I don't know what it is about boys and sticks, but the two seem to go hand in hand. This little guy found this 'stick' and carried around for half of our session. And this is life for him, spending the better part of his walking life on this trail, collecting sticks in a pile.

It's all changing though... starting with this little guy.

I love pictures like the one on the left, below. My daughter is a recovering thumb-sucker and I'm so glad I got a couple of shots of her with her thumb before she stopped. (The nerve of her to go and grow up right in front of me).

And the only thing better than a thumb to a toddler is having a favorite book read along with it.

Sarah + Ralph: hitched!

My goodness, I don't even know where to begin. Weddings are still so new and fascinating to me and I've been blessed having wonderful friends wanting me to capture their day. Sarah and Ralph are my first couple who took a chance on me, not knowing me from any other photographer they came across on their search. And I feel so lucky that they did. Sarah, the bride, was absolutely breathtaking. And she managed to pull off beautiful, too. She did all of this while managing the entire wedding, from making the bouquets to the favors and ensuring that everyone else was taken care of before herself. And Ralph, oh, Ralph, I don't think I have a picture of him without a big smile on his face. The pure happiness pouring out of these two was simply contagious.

The one on the right is one of those shots where the lighting may not be perfect, but the moment sure was...

And smiling Ralph - this was before he even saw the bride.

This was one of four little boys all dressed the same. They were young, but did a fantastic job as ushers. And then they downed more soda then you'd think possible out of champagne glasses at the reception. I could've spent the whole time trying to capture them.

This next one is one of my favorites. I have a nice one all set up where you can see the gorgeous stained glass window above. But this one is so much sweeter. Don't they just make you happy?

I tagged along for a ride in the limo. Lots of jokes, more laughing and a toast to the newlyweds.

And the cowboy hats! I think they almost didn't bring them to the reception, but I'm so glad they did!

And I'll end with one of those imperfect pictures that is simply perfect.

Two Little Monkeys

I met this family last fall and was thrilled to hear from them this year. When I talked to the Mom about their session, she told me about her idea for their Holiday card pictures. I think I may have let out a little squeal of excitement. I think I'm going to save all of those pictures for their gallery, but here is one of their family that I just had to share.

Now, Grandma was in town so we actually started off with some pictures with her. This one was my favorite of the hugging and crying and happiness that happens when Grandmas come to visit.

And this little one has grown so much in a year! She is no longer a little toddler and her personality had blossomed so much. Her eyes, of course, were the same gorgeous blue.

And big brother, oh goodness. Last time I had to win him over for pictures. This time, he was ready to pose.

The Holidays Are Coming! The Holidays are Coming!

Being a children and family photographer, this time of year is insane. And that's an understatement. I may have forgotten what my husband looks like and don't think I have any friends left. My bookings are going from nutso to kind of crazy as Thanksgiving is coming up and I get to focus on finishing up sessions and placing orders for gifts and holiday cards. And as tends to happen when life gets crazy, I thought I'd make it crazier. There are so many things I come across related to photography, holiday cards and gift giving that I can't keep it to myself. So, I figured I'd share a couple of things here and maybe help someone knock something off their list.

First on the list... something perfect for you to go and get right now. They are holiday address stickers from Sarah + Abraham and they are so stinkin' cute.

You know the best part of these labels? You get to customize them! Create your family, pick the colors, the silhouettes - they even have holiday silhouettes of children sledding with sweet little elf hats. I went a little crazy when I saw this website and even now am holding myself back from ordering more.

You see, they do prints, too. How sweet would this be on a door or a wall of a shared bedroom?

And their gift labels? Makes me want to make an effort when I wrap my gifts this year.

So, consider this your soft and adorable welcome to the craziness that is ahead of you. Go get these now, so when your holiday cards arrive, it's one less thing for you to do!

And don't forgot, if you need anything from me for the holidays, I'll need to hear from you by December 1st!

Simply Wonderful

Sometimes during a session, the kids find my camera not very intimidating and well, they pretty much could care less that I'm there. I tend to love when this happens, especially when a family is comfortable around me and fall into just being themselves.

Their oldest is my daughters age and full of spunk. I couldn't get enough of her (or her bow).

Not to be outdone, these two were both adorable and incredibly sweet.

I'll leave you with these of the littlest. I loved how tightly both Mom and Dad held onto her when we took these shots. I think I know exactly how they feel...

Suddenly Fall

It was just last weekend when I met these guys at one of my favorite spots. I hadn't been there in about a month and was excited to see that Fall had hit the area. Well, you know, the kind of Fall we get here in Northern California. It was a gorgeous start to the day and I loved being able to capture these guys. And I mean guys, lucky Mom is outnumbered with three boys. The oldest brother was amazing, not only did he work the poses, but he was incredibly sweet with his younger brothers. This is my favorite of the two oldest.

Good Ol' Fun

And younger brother had just started walking, so he wasn't really into sitting still for too long. We still got some fun shots and I adore this one.

Good Ol' Fun

I'll leave you with a shot that just makes me smile. I was taking a couple of shots of just Mom and Dad and the boys were behind me. I saw some real smiles coming from the parents and I said, "They're probably being really cute behind me, huh?" I turned around and this is what they were doing. Of course, a minute later they stopped and took off in another direction.

Good Ol' Fun

Ah, here's to Fall weather...
